The Skookum is recognized as an Experimental breed by the Independent European Register’s, the Dwarf Cat Association and the registry Catz Inc in New Zealand. The breed is also accepted for registration by TICA as an experimental variety. The original crosses were carried out in the 1990’s in the US.
