The Aegean cat originates from the Cycladic Island of Greece and it is actually a naturally occurring landrace of domestic cats. This cat breed exists for the last 20 years only, as it started developing as a formal breed in the 90's. At the same time, the Aegean cat is considered to be the only native Greek cat breed.
